Want to sell motorcycle gear faster? Follow these simple tips used by successful sellers.

Buyers compare listings. Items priced fairly attract more views, enquiries and offers. Remember, buying second hand carries risk for the purchaser, asking prices for second hand goods need to take that into account.

As a general guide for used gear and accessories:

  • Like New: 60–80% of retail value
  • Excellent Condition: 50–70% of retail value
  • Good Condition: 30–60% of retail value
  • Well Used: 10–40% of retail value

For motorcycles, compare similar bikes of the same year, make, model, kilometres and condition currently advertised in New Zealand.

Help Your Potential Buyers Make an Informed Decision

To assist with this process we’ve added a field called Current Retail Price, and it’s available on all listings. Potential buyers will love your listings if you’ve got this info on there. Just remember though if something is commonly available on sale then putting the current full retail price doesn’t give the correct comparison for a potential buyer. If they can buy it somewhere on special for the price you have listed on it, they won’t buy your second hand item.

Listings with clear, high-quality photos receive significantly more buyer interest. Include multiple angles and highlight any damage or wear.

Accurate descriptions build trust and help avoid wasted time for both buyers and sellers. The goal here is not just to sell motorcycle gear faster, but to have the process as stress free as possible, and honesty really supports that.

The more information you provide, the easier it is for buyers to find your listing and make a purchasing decision. The benefit of having a platform designed exclusively for motorcycles and related gear means the listing fields give you all the options a potential purchaser wants to know.

Buyers often contact multiple sellers. Quick responses can make the difference between securing a sale and missing out. If someone asks a good question add that information to your listing description so other potential purchasers can see that information to.

If your item sells, make sure your listing is marked as hidden, once the deal is done you can delete your listing. As a buyer it’s really frustrating if a seller ghosts interested buyers rather than closing the listing. If it’s still available after 30 days, relist it free of charge to keep it visible to buyers and consider reducing the price.

Following these simple steps can help your listing stand out and improve your chances of a quicker sale.
